Alyson Thomas and Under-21 Womens Team Win Gold at Ball Hockey World Championships

Alyson Thomas of L'Anse au Clair has won Gold with Team Canada in the ISBHF World Junior Championsips in Ball Hockey, after winning the Gold Medal game 1-0 against Slovakia yesterday. The tournament was held in Liberec, Czechia.

Congratulations Alyson and Team Canada!

Alyson finished the tournament with 1 goal and 5 assists in 6 games, including the winning goal in a 3-1 victory over Czech Republic. What an accomplishment!

the Town of L'Anse au Clair would like to thank the International Grenfell Association (IGA) for their support in 2022. IGA provided funding which allowed the Fire Department to purchase new mobile radio equipment. This radio equipment can be vital in emergency situations.

A huge thank you again to IGA for their continued support, and thanks as well to our fire department for your efforts.

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION

TOWN OF L'ANSE AU CLAIR

MUNICIPAL PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS

TAKE NOTICE that the Town of L'Anse au Clair Municipal Plan and Development Regulations (2019-2029), adopted on November 23, 2020 and approved on September 14, 2021, have been registered by the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Municipalities.

The L'Anse au Clair Municipal Plan and Development Regulations (2019-2029) come into effect on the day that this notice is published in the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette. Anyone who wishes to inspect a copy of the documents may do so at the L'Anse au Clair Town Office during normal business hours.

IGA once again has helped with funding for L'Anse au Clair. This time a $7,200 grant for the year 2021 helped aid the purchase of a fire hose, nozzle accessories, gloves, flashlight, and many essential items for the L'Anse au Clair Volunteer Fire Department. We want to say thank you to IGA for helping us protect our residents through funding for our fire department.

The Town did work on a project to connect trails, the Jersey Trail with the Snowmobile Trail. This project will provide a safe trail for ATV's, snowmobiles, or people walking within the Town. Thanks to IGA (International Grenfell Association) for their funding of $9,000.00 for this project.

Thank you to the International Grenfell Association for approving the Town's application for funding to purchase Fire Equipment. The funding approved was in the amount of $22,500.00.

New ferry (almost) ready to go!

A new ferry for the Strait of Belle Isle crossing is ready to start service in January or February 2019.

Purchased from Norway, the eight-year-old vessel has been rechristened the Qajaq W, which is Inuktitut spelling of "kayak," pronounced the same way.
